Little eyes lit up with delight Wednesday, January 7, 2015
Skylight Foundation’s holiday toy drive was a great success and just before Christmas we were delighted to present the Positive Education Program (PEP) and the Urban Community School (UCS) with a wide range of toys and clothing items which were generously donated. We are so happy to be part of helping both of these organizations who do terrific work for kids in our community. The Urban Community School provides primarily low-income children from Cleveland’s near west side with an individualized, innovative and challenging education. The Positive Education Program is Greater Cleveland’s largest non-profit agency committed to our community’s kids by helping troubled and troubling children learn and grow through special education and mental health services in partnership with families, schools and communities.
On receiving the gifts, Sister Rose from UCS said “Thank you so much for including the tots at Urban Community in Skylight’s toy collection. You should have seen the kids eyes light up – especially when they saw the surf board. They loved everything”.
Maria Owens of PEP added her thanks “These gifts went a long, long way in helping some parents in the local community who were finding it a struggle to provide simple Christmas gifts for their children this year - having fallen on rough times recently. We really appreciate the effort that Skylight made to help us help our clients. It is greatly appreciated”.
Thanks to everyone who donated!
